Nettle does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal or device data. All scanning happens locally on your device, and the results never leave it. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.

Data we collect

None. Nettle does not collect or transmit any personal or device information to us or to any third party.

Permissions & why the app needs them

  • Android requires an app to hold location permission in order to return Wi-Fi scan results (network name, signal strength, channel, security). Nettle uses this solely to show you the Wi-Fi networks around you and to draw the channel graph. The app does not determine, record, collect, store, or share your geographic location, and it declares neverForLocation to assert this to the system.

  • Used to read your current Wi-Fi connection details and to discover devices on your local network (mDNS / SSDP / etc.).

  • Used for exactly one off-device request: downloading the public IEEE OUI database, which maps a device's MAC-address prefix to a manufacturer name (e.g. "Apple, Inc."). This request sends no information about you or your device.

Local network scanning

Nettle inspects your own local network to list the devices connected to it (IP / MAC address, vendor, device type, hostnames, advertised services). This information is displayed only on your device and is never uploaded or shared.

Third parties

Nettle contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.

Data retention & deletion

Your in-app settings are stored locally on your device. Scan results exist only in memory while the app is open. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Because no data is collected or transmitted, there is nothing for us to retain or delete.

Children

Nettle is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.
